Boots on the Ground in Halifax with Honorary Colonel (2011- 2015) Barb Stegemann
VETS Canada was Boots on the Ground today in Halifax in search of Veterans living homeless/in-crisis. Special guest Barb Stegemann, Honorary Colonel (2011-2015), and her partner Mike Velemirovich participated in the Walk, to show their support for addressing Veteran homelessness and to hand out comfort items.
Barb is one of the few women in Canada to have been made an Honorary Colonel for the Royal Canadian Air Force and is the first female to receive this honour for her base, 14 Wing Greenwood (2011- 2015). Barb is also the first woman from Atlantic Canada to have successfully pitched and landed a venture capital deal on CBC’s Dragons’ Den. Her fragrance company, 7 Virtues Beauty Inc., is based in Halifax; sourcing fair market natural essential oils from nations rebuilding after war or strife such as Haiti, Afghanistan, The Middle East and Rwanda.
The Walk was a great success, with over 15 volunteers participating, and one Veteran located.
