VETS Canada Welcomes New Executive Director
Meet VETS Canada’s new Executive Director, Jan Fullerton!
Jan Fullerton has been involved with nonprofit organizations since childhood, first doing fundraising then by high school was organizing events and serving on club executives and youth councils. She has continued volunteering for various organizations ever since and began working full-time in the nonprofit sector in 2005 when she became the Executive Director of Skills Canada Northwest Territories.
Jan has a BA in Political Science from Dalhousie University and, while working with Skills Canada NWT, she completed a Leadership Certificate program through Aurora College and a Nonprofit Management Extension Certificate through Mount Royal University. She also has a background in information technology that has been useful in many roles, both within and outside the nonprofit sector. Her next education goal is to complete a Master of Philanthropy and Nonprofit Leadership so she can be as effective as possible in her role with VETS Canada.
In addition to spending a couple of years in the army reserves (Yellowknife Company, Loyal Edmonton Regiment), Jan has a number of family members and friends who are active or former members of the Canadian military. She is excited to be in a position to serve the men and women who have served our country.
In her spare time, Jan enjoys doing home renovations with her husband, spending time in nature (hiking, sailing, diving, skiing, gardening…), reading, photography, travel, hanging out with her dog, and philosophical conversations.
Welcome to the team, Jan!
