Back in June 2015, VETS Canada President, Jim Lowther and Director of Operations, Julie Bibby had the pleasure of presenting a guitar to a new Guitars for Vets student, Justin Lord. ┬áJustin recently finished his 10 lessons and he had this to say…

“When Jim told me about the Guitars4Vets program I thought it would be interesting to give the information to buddies…however, Jim was very excited about the program and I got swept up in that. I still remember him saying ‘there’s just something about playing the guitar, you just can’t be angry’ and thinking to myself ‘yeah right’. It wasn’t until about the eighth lesson that I experienced what he was talking about, work was rough, I hadn’t slept, I was in a reacting state of mind and I just felt like staying in my room. I forced myself out to that lesson and on the other side of that 30 minutes I felt better than I had in a couple of days. The gift alone of having my four year old little girl sing Twinkle,Twinkle Little Star as I fumbled through playing it was immeasurable for me. I believe everyone’s journey towards solid psychological health involves a myriad of tools and supports, this has certainly become one for me”
