VETS Canada Launches Emergency / Transitional Housing Units for Homeless & In-Crisis Veterans in Ottawa
In response to the ongoing concern regarding in-crisis Veterans in Ottawa, VETS Canada has launched emergency / transitional housing for retired military members of the National Capital Region. Ontario is the third province to have VETS Canada emergency housing units available for Veterans (also NS and BC).
This exciting new initiative will include two short-term stay units for Veterans in crisis as they transition to healthy, long-term housing solutions.
“VETS Canada is thrilled to be able to provide emergency housing for Veterans of our country’s capital,” says Jim Lowther, VETS Canada Co-Founder/CEO & President. “We know from research that Veterans are twice as likely to experience homelessness than civilians, and that their needs are unique; which is why we need specialized initiatives to address homelessness for those who have served. We look forward to expanding these housing options into other provinces, and reaching even more Veterans in-crisis.”
